So driving past the drivers ed building tonight I learned my school has a 2006ish Dodge Charger and a really new Chevrolet Impala. I don't know which one I want to drive come September or when ever it starts.

More likely you'll get whatever is available.

Yeah probably I'll end up in some beige mobile.

When you first start driving, you're happy just to drive any car.

Ive been driving my moms Impreza.

That's definitely a far cry from the Chevy Aveos and Suzuki Renos that my driving school used, LOL.

I sure did. Impala, Malibu, Sonata, Civic. And these were mostly the early-mid 2000s models too. Except the Accord which was like an eighth generation model. Granted this was also 5 years ago.

This is what my school used for driver's ed when I took it in 2005. I'm pretty sure they still use it today. It was the epitome of boring. But the double brake pedal feature was cool.

The new 2014 looks really nice. I hope I get to drive both at least once.

My school uses Impalas, but not the nice new ones, the last generation rental special.
I never took driver's ed though.

I hope we have more than just one.
Drivers Ed is a licence requirement in New York State. That or I have to sit in a 5 hour class.

It just becomes an insurance cost reduction if I take it.

Just be glad you weren't learning when I was. This POS was the first car I ever drove:
I like to think I'm more of a man as a result.
An old man.
Get off my lawn.

I had to deal with some sort of Dodge Colt. It was actually pretty hilarious given that if you turned the wheel hard enough it would stick like a lawnmower. Thankfully my Dad taught me most of the important bits on a proper manual.

I have/want to because I really can't handle sitting in a room for 5 hours. Part anxiety and part slight ADD. Plus I get to drive around for a bit in cars my family doesn't own.

Watch for the blind spots in either of those. The Dodge might be a bit worse off in that department.

Doesn't the Impala have BSM on it? I usually try to make the mirrors so I can eliminate blind spots when I'm driving. Kind of got it on my mom's car.

Mine has a yellow mustang hehe.

Well I have access to a Mustang Convertible. So HA! Although it's probably going back in the garage this week because my dad's gf won't drive it often. I want to buy it sooooooo bad. Her son doesn't want her to sell it so I really want to swoop in buy it and never let him drive it, *evil laughter* Seriously though I want to buy it so it can be driven like it's meant to be driven.

The yellow one is a convertible.

Ours is Red, so I win.

No you don't.

Why would you say such a thing? What year is it?
![]() 08/03/2014 at 22:26 |

2012

Ok, you do win. Our's is a 94 and I barely fit in the passenger seat with people in the back. Also the tail lights on the 2012 are super sexy.

I get a boner when I see them.

I hope my school has something awesome in the back lot behind the driver's ed building.

Like a cuda?

That'd be fucking awesome, but knowing my town those are the coolest cars we have.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 23:05 |

Eh, better than what my school had. When I took it, this was the car we used:
2000 Buick Century, 4-Door, Column-shifted automatic. Imagine this, but with yellow driver's ed stickers, bench seat, and rot on the bottom of every door. The power-steering pump worked periodically, so you could stop at a stoplight and have power steering, then turn right and have no power steering. The only other option was an automatic 1995 Geo Prism.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 23:08 |
|
Still better than a Geo Prism.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 23:15 |
|
Which is exactly why I drove the Buick every single time. I only saw the Prism 3 or 4 times. Faded 90's teal, dingy grey interior, and rust in just about every conceivable place. I don't even want to imagine how awful it was to drive.

That thing must've been terrible, I feel kind of bad for all those who've had to drive that. I cringe when ever I see one on the street.
![]() 08/03/2014 at 23:32 |
|
Same here. I specifically scheduled all of my driving times so I could have the Buick. One of my buddies had the Prism for his first drive. I don't remember what he said about it, but he never drove it again. Luckily, just about every one in Michigan has rotted into the ground, so I don't see many. When I do though, I cringe, then wonder why anybody ever bought that awful car.

I had a Mitsubishi Something with horribly tough pedals in it for driver's ed. It smelled funny.
